Quite possibly one of the biggest music awards shows next to the Grammy’s has come around full circle once again as it always did for the past 28 years. The annual MTV VMAs has been an grand event that people anticipate as each year passes. And like every year, new music, new artists always make their way to the top to become a nominee within the category of the genre they fill in respectively. Full circle indeed, MTV has decided to return to the City of Angels for a second consecutive run.

In 2010, MTV aired their annual video music award show that has always been watched by millions worldwide from the grand Nokia Theatre, this year what better than to return to the same venue and air the show from there once more. Everyone, including the Mayor of Los Angeles, is every enthused with MTV’s return for the network’s 28th annual celebration.

According to MTV, the 2010 VMAs posted the best ratings for the show since 2002, highlighted by much-anticipated performances by Taylor Swift (who debuted her song “Innocent,” which addressed 2009’s Kanye West incident) and West himself, who also debuted a new song, the raunchy “Runaway.” The show also featured performances by Eminem with Rihanna, Drake and Best New Artist winner Justin Bieber, B.o.B with Hayley Williams, Florence and the Machine, and Linkin Park, plus a pre-show appearance by Nicki Minaj and Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am. Host Chelsea Handler kept the night humming along with some classic bits, including a skit with Lindsay Lohan and the first-ever appearance of a hot tub on the VMA stage.

The President of MTV, Mr. Stephen Friedman, released this statement about their decision to return to L.A. for a second run.

These were his comments from the statement:

“We are thrilled to return to Los Angeles where the energy of the city will help power the creative spirit of the 28th annual VMAs. The city is the perfect backdrop for all the musical moments, mayhem and magic that make the VMAs such a notorious celebration.”

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa even added his comments to MTV’s return to the grand city.
These were his comments:

“We are proud to host the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, the creative capital of the world. And we look forward to showcasing our city’s exciting new downtown entertainment attractions of the show’s return to his city.”

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards has been set to air live on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 9pm Eastern Time.
