Three Six Mafia will become the first hip-hop act to take the Academy Award stage when they perform “It’s Hard Out There for a Pimp” this coming Sunday. While Three Six will have to substitute words like “fuck” and “nigga,” the Academy has given “bitches” a stamp of approval. The song was penned for Hustle & Flow, the film that earned Terrence Howard and Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a leading role. The song is also nominated for Best Song in a movie. “As long as the Academy approves it, it’s cool,” Juicy J told Reuters. “Taraji [P. Henson] said the Academy told her she can say ‘bitches.” A spokesman for Academy Award producer Gil Gates, confirmed that “bitches” will not be subtituted.
