New York, NY – The time continues to draw near as 50 Cent is close to completion of his latest album ‘Before I Self Destruct.’ The road to completion wasn’t an easy task as many changes went into the project as a whole from production and track transitions to delaying the date of release until eventually agreeing to postpone until after the release of his label brethren and mentor, Eminem’s hiatus-ending sixth studio album. And now after the release of additional material from the recent ‘War Angel’ street album, 50 continues his streak as he completes his next major project for final release.

Apparently, it seems as though the delay and postponement of the album worked well in 50’s favor as the production and track transitions provided more time and room to revamp the entire album bringing better production teams and lyrical content. According to 50, his patience and acceptance of Dre’s critique and finishing touches allowed him to record better content on more eclectic beats. Production included heavyweights such as Timbaland, Polow Da Don, and of course, Dr. Dre. The G-Unit General recently spoke with MTV News concerning his upcoming studio LP and gave insight on what to expect as of content and production.

These were his comments:

“I feel like my album is as close to perfect as it’s gonna get. I’m reaching the point to where if I have to continue to write it, I’ll be overkilling it. That’s why I gave myself other writing assignments, like the ‘War Angel,’ like the ’90s [tape] ‘Sincerely Southside Part 2’ and our actual G-Unit mixtape I’m doing with [Lloyd] Banks and [Tony] Yayo.”

50 continues to mention his work with Timbaland and how they mesh on a high level, he even adds that reuniting with Timbo for ‘Before I Self Destruct’ was quite an experience:

“When me and Timbaland go in, a lot of times it’s a compromise, he’s doing things that’s a little different production-wise from what I would usually do. Like ‘Ayo Technology’ — you never heard me rap with that cadence. That beat was actually for Justin [Timberlake]. It was golden, some shit he had on the side, and he gave it to me. I went and did it. Justin laid the hook to it.

I could put lyrics to any melody, I can write a rap song, I can write an R&B song, I can write whatever type of song. If you put a note on it where I can hear it, man, I can write that. We did that, and that’s how I came up with that new cadence for ‘Ayo Technology.’ We did that a couple of times while we was on there working [on Before I Self Destruct]. It’s fun that way to have him participate with me.

Even if you ain’t got the words, you’re up there, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.’ Tim will be like, ‘I can’t believe that. He was able to make everything I just made a noise into a real cadence.’ I seen him take pens or pencils into a cup and put it into a shaker. I’m sure nobody else has shaker sounds like that. … I seen some interesting things from Timbaland.”

At press time, 50 Cent’s fourth studio album, ‘Before I Self Destruct,’ has been set to be released sometime in September with a sequel yet to be determined. This will be 50’s final album under contract with Interscope, aside from a Greatest Hits album, making him a free agent until he either re-signs with Interscope or ventures to another label.
