50 Cent Responds about Jay-Z Verse on ‘Flight 187’
New York, NY – Sometime last week, it was reported that Shady/Aftermath artist, 50 Cent, released a track entitled ‘Flight 187’off of a new mixtape in a slew of mixtapes he has been releasing in the past couple of months. On that track, it was initially thought that the G-Unit General was taking blatant shots at the icon Jay-Z.
On the verse, 50 spits:
“Jay rockin’ that Urkel look, isn’t he from Marcy?/ They say he growing dreads and now he’s talking like a Yardie.”
To many people it sounds like he was dissing Jay-Z, but according to 50, there is no beef and that wasn’t a diss. He recently spoke to MTV News as they inquired about the lyrics in question.
These were his comments:
“It was the glasses, they saw the glasses. I didn’t Photoshop glasses on him. I think Jay is really conscious of his actual moves. He does those things to make a statement in different ways to create clarity that he doesn’t have to be the way people want him to be. He can do what he wants. But [I wrote the song] out of the perspective of me mentioning things I thought were interesting.”
Fif
continues to insist that those lyrics were just observations on the icon and things that he been seeing as of late. On the same track, he also name drops Britney Spears and members of his own camp. However, everyone only notices when you mention a heavyweight’s name:
“I even wrote, ‘Em made me a star and Dre is taking a long time to mix my records. I gotta talk to Jimmy [Iovine] about it.’ I wrote about Britney Spears. I said a lot of interesting things on the record, but they focus on Jay because his album is releasing. Of course, with those marketing dollars being spent, he’s the focus. The new XXL, there’s about 40 pages of Jay-Z on there. That boy is serious when it comes to his [album] layout. … When it comes time for him to have companies market and promote him as a brand, he does a great job.”
On the other side, it seems as Jay-Z isn’t paying any mind to that of 50 as he is focusing on his recent album release and his ‘The Blueprint 3’ concert that sets to pop off later on tonight. I’m quite sure MTV News will be at the MSG with questions about the show, his epic album, and 50 Cent.

American Idol Decides on New Celebrity Judge
New York, NY – The sudden departure of Paula Abdul from the highly successful ‘American Idol’ show on Fox left fans and the network with immediate bewilderment and confusion. After her announcement of her retirement sometime last month, Fox has been frantically looking for a suitable replacement to fill that vacant seat and who will blend well with the rest of the remaining celebrity judges. In some interesting recent news that shocked many of Idol fans, it was announced on Wednesday night that Abdul’s permanent replacement will be none other than the comedian and talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
Ellen recently spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show about her recent move to ‘American Idol,’ her thoughts, and the judging techniques she plans on implementing.
These were her comments the host of the highly successful show:
“Paula was a huge part of the show, and that’s a role that needs to be filled by someone in a totally different way. I hope Paula’s OK with it. I don’t want anyone to think I took Paula’s job away.”
While at the judge’s chair, she doesn’t plan on following in the footsteps of Simon Cowell, nor will she take his pointers, as a matter of fact, Ellen has her own methods of approaching the contestants:
“I’m not going to be mean, I hate it when Simon’s that mean. I’ll tell him the same thing I tell him when he’s on my show — that he’s mean. You can be constructive, and you can criticize someone in a way that’s helpful and not mean-spirited.”
And at the end of the day, Ellen adds that she still a fan of the show, since day one, and hopes to bring more vibrant themes to the show:
“I love music, period and I’m a huge fan of the show. I haven’t missed one show since the beginning. I’m just a fan, like everybody else. People are the ones who choose the American Idol. Ultimately, it doesn’t come down to some expert in the music industry. It comes down to everybody at home who says, ‘That’s the person I relate to.’ I hope to be that voice.”
Ellen DeGeneres will be joined alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi as a new original celebrity judge during the beginning of the show’s 9th season.
