Legendary Memphis rap duo 8Ball & MJG have found a new label home, according to a fellow southern titan, T.I. There was much talk of this union going on for months but until today nothing was official. However Saturday night at Atlanta’s Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash T.I. made the announcement to the massive crowd that Ball and G had signed to his Grand Hustle record label. The crowd reacted with great excitement and enthusiastic cheers to the news, but gave even bigger accolades when 8Ball & MJG, came out and performed “Don’t Make” with T.I.  to solidify the partnership.

Ball and G are giants in the southern rap game and are constantly mentioned with the likes of U.G.K. and the Geto Boys for their multi generational influence and appeal. Although they hail from Memphis they have been on Diddy’s Bad Boy South label for the past few years but have not seen much come out of it with the label except for last year’s low selling “Riding High”.

No statements have been released from either side as well as no official details like when an album will be dropping or contract terms.  Do you think this is a good look for 8Ball & MJG? I think it’s definitely going to work better for them then Diddy’s New York based southern label.
