(MTV) – The ex-husband of Amy Winehouse, Blake Fielder-Civil is devastated over singer’s death.

As fans and family members continue to mourn the loss of Amy Winehouse, her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is reeling over news of her death. Fielder-Civil has notoriously been a controversial figure in the late singer’s life, but his current girlfriend, Sarah Aspin, told Britain’s The Sun that he’s “devastated and shattered” by his ex’s passing.

“Blake rang me on Saturday after the prison authorities told him she’d died,” Aspin said. “I just couldn’t console him. He was in total shock.” Blake is currently serving a 32-month sentence in the U.K. in connection with a June conviction for burglary and firearm possession.

Despite the bad headlines about their union and their ultimate breakup, Aspin reveals that Blake made his feelings for Winehouse clear. Aspin quotes him saying, “I will never, ever again feel the love I felt for her. Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”

In addition, Blake is allegedly on suicide watch. His mother, Georgette Fielder-Civil, told The Daily Star, “Blake will kill himself. He won’t make it without her. He will be devastated, totally and utterly devastated. He’ll go straight back to self-harming. I’ll have to ring the prison and he’ll have to be put on watch.”
