As previously reported, Game (born Jayceon Taylor) was arrested last year at a North Carolina mall after three off duty police officers repetitively asked the rapper to discard a Halloween mask he had on, stop cursing and leave the building. While handcuffing Game, one of the officers pepper sprayed members of the rapper’s entourage. After being released on bail on the same day, Game would tell the local press that all he was doing was signing autographs. He also accused the aforementioned officer, whose name would not be revealed because of state personnel privacy law, of brutality and threatened to take legal action.
"I got arrested for signing autographs. Signing a little girl’s autograph got me arrested" said Game after his release. "It’s unfair, man. Their behavior’s unfair…. Soon as I wake up in the morning, I’ll be on the phone with my lawyers." On April 14, the Internal Affairs division of the Greensboro Police Department, who held investigated the incident, cleared the unidentified officer of any wrong doing,. According to Sergeant Lelvester Thomas, the officer’s reaction was "reasonable".
