305djs: How did you get in the position to run Circle House?
Bebe: Well I got that position from being here in the community for so long and being around and seeing [everything]. Of course from my father, being in the music business and just from the people that he knows, the people that I know and just networking. Also having a good facility for people to work at and bang out some nice hit records and make them feel comfortable. They’re leaving with good products and quality and it’s more of a business aspect.
305djs: With your father being a member of Inner Circle, what made you want to run the studio instead of being the artist?
Bebe: Well I more of behind the scene type of guy. Me, being around the music business, I got to evaluate the game from a different perspective. I saw the artist where the artist was rolling around in a Toyota and then I saw the CEO and the CEO had a Benz. I want to be more like to CEO, behind the scenes, getting the check.
305djs: What is Soundbwoy Entertainment?
Bebe: Soundbwoy is a label that Inner Circle owns. We have a group called Rock Bottom that is getting signed to Motown right now, which are three guys and one girl. My little brother is in the group, Lunch Money. Inner Circle is on the label. We have a dancehall riddem coming out called “The Hop” coming out through VP. We got a bunch of releases.
305djs: Is it going to be more towards reggae or hip-hop?
Bebe: Both. That’s the way we grew up. I’m Jamaican but I grew up in America, so I know both styles, both genres.
305djs: How long have you had the label?
Bebe: Label has been around for about 5 years now. But it was mainly Inner Circle on there but now we’re venturing off and doing different artists and stuff like that.
305djs: Being one of the biggest recording studios, who do you have come through to record?
Bebe: Everybody from Nas. We just finished the Christina Milian project. Tego Calderon, Peety Pablo. Right now we’re doing Teedra Mosses which is TVT. Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo. We did Ne-Yo’s album here. Just like all the hot projects. I like hot projects.
305djs: How do you feel about the Miami Movement right now?
Bebe: It’s perfect. Miami is doing excellent right now. The more groups we get signed, the more leverage we have and the more jobs and opportunities we will have for everybody. It’s all about getting your act together and getting your sh*t together, point blank. Have your game plan. All these Miami artist don’t have a game plan and just go out there and do their thing. Naw, get a game plan, get a slogan. This is the music business. It’s also a business. You have to cover the business perspective and not just the music perspective. You have to have good marketing strategies and good people skills and everything. The more Miami people that get deals, they’re seeing more than just Miami. They’re going out and doing different shows and going to different states and bringing back that culture back here. They’re not just on their block or going to South Beach.
305djs: Who are you feeling out of Miami right now?
Bebe: Definitely Rick Ross, definitely my group Rock Bottom, definitely Inner Circle, definitely Pitbull. I’m loving the whole Miami Movement. I’m trying to rock with ni**as that’s from Miami. Trying to rock with ni**as that been here doing it. Not the guys that came from New York or whatever or producers that just came from out of town and just got embedded into the community. I’m really messing those guys that been here for years. Guys who made that look and made that scene what it is.
305djs: Are there any projects your working on?
Bebe: Just the Rock Bottom project. That’s the main thing right there. The group they’re going to be crazy. The Inner Circle record “Smoke in My Eyes” featuring Damien and Stephen Marley that is produced by Red Spyda. Check out our website innercircle-reggae.com, Inner Circle website. Just trying to keep Miami sexy. We also do an event on Sunday at the Forge. Very nice chilled out event. Dinner party. We’re just trying to expose the grow and sexiness to Miami. We just trying to up the level and up the game of Miami as a whole. I try to be a trendsetter. I don’t try to follow trends. I try to be different. I’m getting into the ringtone game a little.
305djs: Is there anything else you want to promote?
Bebe: That’s about it. The group, the new record that we got. The studio is already rolling so I’m not really trying to do too much to that. That’s really it. Just promote Bebe so the more I get myself out there the more I get things poppin out there. That’s it.
