New York, NY – When it comes to artists world premiering music videos, it seems as though the industry has changed. At one in point time, MTV was on the only outlet where you could actually premiere a music video on no matter what genre it focused on. Then came BET with Video Soul, Rap City, Rap City: The Bassment, and then 106 & Park. World premieres were normal on these networks that provided these shows; nowadays artists can showcase their videos viral through Youtube.com, Vevo or even us. It has even got to the point where network shows based on talk or even music can premiere music videos. Apparently, this is why after delaying the first scheduled premiere, Beyoncé has decided to world premiere her video of ‘Run the World (Girls)’ on Fox network’s American Idol this Wednesday (May 18), as confirmed by MTV.

A teaser into the video was released earlier in the month making fans even more anticipated into the release. Veteran director Francis Lawrence took to the directing seat for this video adding his ideas to the table. Lawrence recently spoke with MTV News about ‘Run the World’ (Girls) and his thoughts on the video.

These were his comments:

“It’ll be big, it’ll probably be one of the bigger Beyoncé music videos ever done and I can say that I think the song is unbelievable. I think the video’s gonna be really fun and cool and different for her.”

Beyonce spoke to Billboard.com recently and added her vision of the format of the song that is officially the first single off of her upcoming album 4.

These were her comments:

“It’s definitely riskier than something a bit more … simple. I just heard the track and loved that it was so different. It felt a bit African, a bit electronic and futuristic. It reminded me of what I love, which is mixing different cultures and eras — things that typically don’t go together — to create a new sound. I can never be safe; I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal, that’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.”
