Miami’s love affair with art known as Art Basel is officially over. Held from December 5th-8th, the venue enticed many celebrities to temporarily take up housing in South Beach leaving a trail of gossip for the media.
The kick-off party started at LIV on Thursday with Trey Smith aka DJ AcE on the ones and twos while guests Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Reggie Bush, and Paris Hilton celebrated the beginning of Art Basel.
Thursday night attracted a ready-to-party Demi Moore, Stacy Keibler, and Lenny Kravitz at Art.sy and Chanel’s BBQ held at Soho House. The 50-year old actress may have been partying her stress away after it was reported hours earlier by her boy toy/artist, Vito Schnabel that they’re not dating. When Schnabel was asked if there was any truth to the rumors he’s dating Moore he replied, “No. Nope.” Schnabel was in attendance, and the pair reportedly made out.
Prior in the evening Kanye West and Kim Kardashian attended Dom Pérignon Luminous Rosé that was hosted by Samantha Boardman and Aby Rosen at their property, W South Beach Hotel and Residences. Damien Hirst, Vera Wang, Scott Disick, and Kourtney Kardashian were in attendance as well.
Earlier in the day, Kanye West, Pharell Williams, and Terry Richardson were seen at Design Talks at DesignMiami/DACRA for Williams book launch, Pharell: Places and Spaces I’ve Been.
Other book signings around town included a book on Donna Karen’s late husband Stephan Weiss poolside at the Delano Hotel, Jenni Radosevich for I Spy DIY Style at the Raleigh Hotel, and Lincoln Schatz for The Network.
On Friday, Rico Love partied in SLS Hotel at a Haute Living Magazine-produced cocktail reception and attended the unveiling of Hublot’s new watch collection, Fusion. Notable attendees included Lance Bass, Joe Francis (who confirmed that Joanna Kruper did indeed break up the marriage of Mohamed Hadid), Lea Black, Karent Sierra, Jill Zarin, Juwann Howard, Kenny Burns, and more who were treated to hors d’oeuvres and drinks provided by Hyde Beach. Guests were also treated to the latest Ferrari FF, provided by The Collection, and viewed a large variety of artist Domingo Zapata’s works on display surrounding the outdoor dining and pool areas.
Saturday night, Nikki Beach became the hotspot with Le Baron’s pop-up party stationed there while Jay- Z and Beyoncé held court in VIP sipping on D’Usse Cognac, Jay-Z’s endorsed liquor.
Earlier in the afternoon, Beyonce was seen with her bodyguard at the Red Dot art fair in Wynwood and later with her mother Tina Knowles shopping for art at the convention center.
The Smiths were spotted with their children enjoying dinner Saturday night at Baoli Miami where son Trey mixed at Jelsomino. Although it was rumored that their marriage is clearly on the rocks citing various arguments as examples, the couple kept it friendly in photo-ops.
Beyonce and Jay-Z were also at Foxhole bar on Miami Beach with Gabrielle Union and Kelly Rowland on Saturday night. The couple was seen sneaking into the SLS Hotel where they enjoyed a romantic dining experience in it’s exclusive room, Sam’s Lounge. But not before they made an appearance at Rico Love’s private birthday party at the SLS Hotel that included Rowland, Eva Cavalli, Fat Joe, Pharrell, Russell Simmons, Andre Harrell, Robin V., Janice Combs, Angie Beyince, Kenny Burns, Manning Summer and DJ Cassidy.
Sunday night the duo attended LIV for the launch of Jay Z’s aforementioned cognac.
Entourage star Adrian Grenier and his entourage were at a dinner hosted by Krug Thursday night at Dolce, an Italian restaurant in the Gale South Beach.
The closing reception party was held at James Hotel at Royal Palm included local artist Richard M. Bassett and Adrian Grenier.
Other notables seen on South Beach included Dita Von Teese, Diane Von Furstenberg, Nicky Hilton, and Stella McCartney.
