B.G. has been through a lot in his life, both as an artist and a member of society. He has had his fair share of the limelight since his younger years with Cash Money and the epic Hot Boys era. Interestingly enough, even after the downfall of the group, B.G. continued to keep his name in the lights, just slightly under the radar sort of say. Between signing with independent labels to landing major contracts, he’s been fortunate to stay afloat in his own rite and still has those die hard, dedicated fans still supporting him.
The New Orleans emcee severed ties with T.I.’s imprint Grand Hustle, but still managed to maintain a humble relationship. He recently spoke with Mikey T and Hip-Hop Weekly about his first encounters with T.I. States that the label’s founder looked up to him as an influential artist.
These were his comments:
“T.I. was like, I was one of the reasons he [started rapping], he was like, ‘I used to be just sitting in the trap just bumping all your shit.’ I had put out six solo albums under Cash Money before [T.I. and I] even had our deal…So I was like, ‘Damn.’”
He is still very much pushing his solo career without a doubt; however, he still has high hopes on a Hot Boys reunion album between all the original four members, regardless of the fact that Turk is still serving a 14 year prison bid for charges of weapons possession. Honestly, with the way that YMCMB has been prospering with the artists’ the label already houses, a new Hot Boy album seems unlikely.
He added these comments:
“All of us say, ‘We ready.’ The whole world wants it, the whole world wants to see it. It’s a business move. Me and Baby talk all the time. Me and Lil Weezy, that’ll always be my little brother. Me and Juve, I don’t know, we don’t really talk like that.”
At press time, B.G. is still prepping the release of his next mixtape ‘Money Side, Murda Side II.’
