Rapper Big Boi, has announced that he has completed 17 songs for his solo sophomore album Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader.
While speaking to JuniorOnline.com Big Boi revealed that he could literally drop the project today if he wanted to but he would rather wait. “I’mma marinate on it because I’m on the road. I feel good about it, all the music’s sounding great,” he explained.
When asked about the sound and direction of the new album, Big Boi said, “S-A-X-X-X triple assassin, and the beats are going to be as hard hitting as always. I’mma let everything else be a surprise, and just let it speak for itself.”
Big Boi would only confirm that singer Janelle Monae would be present on the album.
“She’s somebody whose hand you don’t have to hold,” Big Boi said. “She’s got a creative mind, she’s got a great spirit. She’s a good girl and I’m proud of her. She’s making me very proud.”
Expect Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader, the follow-up to last years critically acclaimed Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty, to be released before the end of the year.
You can see Big Boi performing at the Golden Gate Park Outside Lands festival, on August 12th thru the 14th in San Francisco. He will then head to Australia for several tour dates.
Andre 3000, is said to be hard at work on his own solo album. The duo is rumored to be back together in the studio to begin work on a new Outkast album, which is said to be released sometime in 2012.
