There was a rumor going around a couple months ago that
the entire R&B roster of DTP was dropped, which included Bobby Valentino and Shareefa. Well Ms. Reefa has not been
confirmed but it was announced today that Bobby V. is indeed off the label, but
left on amicable terms and was a voluntary move.

Bobby has released two albums under Ludacris’ DTP label and has not given any real reason for the
departure. He has however issued a statement giving his new plans and what he
hopes to show in the future. In the statement he called his time at the label “A
great stepping stone and learning experience. I look at this as my going off to
college. It was time for me to step out on my own and show the world who Bobby
Valentino the artist really is.”

Even though he is off the label Bobby says he won’t be
taking any vacations as he is set to release two new albums within a year. The
first will be an online only digital 6 track album titled “Come With Me”, and
is set to be released April 29th. Bobby said the EP will show his diversity due
to the sound he created with the record’s producer, Bill Jabr. “Bill and I are on a vibe to do something different
beyond the R&B norm,” said Valentino. “I call it R&B
alternative: we use live instrumentation like electric guitars but the drums
remain very urban/rhythmic.”

The second album will be an as yet untitled LP or full
length album and will be available through all standard outlets. He has not
given any time frame for the second album or any details, like its title or
producers. Neither Luda nor any rep of DTP has issued a statement and I doubt
they will since nobody really cares about Big Bobby anyway.
