It’s been almost a year since R&B singer Brandy was blamed for an interstate pile-up that resulted in a woman’s death. Turns out, she may not have been at fault after all.
The woman who died in the car
accident actually struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made
any contact with her car. On top of that, the L.A. County Coroner
spokesperson Captain Ed Winter said that toxicology reports show that the victim, Awatef Aboudihaj, had “slight traces” of marijuana in her system at the time of the crash.Though the California Highway Patrol found that Brandy was responsible for the car crash victim’s death, now law enforcement
is saying that the mother of two who died hit the car in front of her
and then slammed on the breaks, causing Brandy to rear end her. It was
previously reported that Brandy simply didn’t notice when traffic slowed in front of her.
Statutes only allow one year from the date of the incident to file
criminal charges, giving the L.A. City Attorney until the end of the
business day on Friday (Dec. 28) to file charges. If the City Attorney
does decide to file charges, they have the daunting task of proving
Brandy was negligent. A decision has not yet been made.
