(Atlanta GA) – After a hard fought out battle with the polls, Da Kennel has successfully won the freshmen battle for this week’s best new video. With 43% of the votes and beating out other notable selections that included artist from different genres, the video began rotation as of Monday, March 21, 2011.

Now joining the ranks of other well-known artist that the show has spotlighted in the past, MTV’s pick has added fuel to this growing independent powerhouse.
 
“This win really means something to us,” Kennel member Mage explains, “Our city, our state, Z1079, and Latin Assassin got behind us and that was the difference. It was a big difference.

In addition to taking the freshmen race, Da Kennel’s “Dat’s What I Do” premiered on MTV’s Sucker Free Sunday on March 20th and will be playing on MTV Jams and MTV2. Also the video is now available on VH1.com

Since releasing their first single “Model”, which also hit MTV and made its own impact on the Billboard charts, Da Kennel has been busy on the road promoting and aligning themselves other new artists who gained a following underground but are now on the same light speed path to commercial success.

Da Kennel’s latest industry coup can be found in the group’s new mixtape, Hood II Hood Reloaded hosted by one of the biggest DJ’s in the game, DJ Drama. With plans that include a full quarter of continued club appearances and concert cameos throughout the country, Da Kennel is marking its territory and sure to be up next!
