After the release of the highly successful "Def Jam Vendetta" series,
Electronic Arts is once again teaming up with Def Jam to release "Def Jam:
Icon" for early 2007. The game will be available on Playstation 3 and Xbox
360 in the U.S. and Europe starting March 2007. The fighting game is said to incorporate
hip-hop music, lifestyle and culture.
"Music is the cornerstone of hip-hop culture so we wanted to incorporate
music and rhythm into the actual gameplay mechanics," Kudo Tsunoda, executive
producer and General Manager of EA Chicago, said in a statement. "In DEF
JAM: ICON, we are changing the way fighting games are played! We are completely
innovating the role of the environments in the games, moving from the typical
lifeless arenas the hip-hop celebrities are fighting in to environments that
play an instrumental part in the fight where they will react to the music and
interact with both characters like a third fighter."
This time around, T.I., Ludacris and Big Boi are among the
numerous characters available to gamers. Def Jam: Icon is slated to hit stores
in March 2007.
