Diddy and the MTV network have had a long running relationship. Through his various “Making The Band” series and the most recent “I Want To Work For Diddy”, he has made his mark on the television world. Now it has been announced Diddy and MTV, along with producer Mark Burnett, are teaming up again to find the next musical superstars in the new reality show “StarMakers”. The show will have Diddy handpick a selection of several young aspiring artists and have them live together battling it out until one is left standing, which will then of course become the next star. Sound familiar?

The show has been in development since 2007 and will see the contestants go through a rigor of exercises like dealing with  photo shoots, handling the paparazzi and how they physically perform on stage.  The show is scheduled for launch in January of 2009 and Diddy says he is very excited about his “new” venture. “It’s a privilege to partner with Mark Burnett on my latest television venture,” said Combs who labeled Burnett as “one of the industry’s best.” “I am confident that we will do great things together with StarMaker and beyond.”  Diddy obviously hopes that this show will help lead the way to the future as far as entertainment goes. “We’ve created a platform that will allow new and emerging artists a chance to showcase their talents to some of the industry’s best,” he said about his intentions for the show.

It is not yet known where Starmakers will be holding it’s casting calls or exactly what type of musical acts they are looking for but stay tuned as we will be posting up additional details as they come about.
