Two years ago, Dr. Dre appeared to be well on his way to releasing Detox. “I Need a Doctor” with Eminem and Skylar Grey was a major success. The music video was released and Dr. Dre had a release date seemingly locked in for his album. Dr. Dre released the next single, “Chillin,’” but no video came.
Fast forward two years and all that took place was a tease. However, Dr. Dre ended up being introduced to a Compton kid by Game. This kid was Kendrick Lamar and he dominated the year of 2012. Kendrick Lamar has served as a mouthpiece, of sorts, for the ongoing delays of Dr. Dre’s Detox.
Yesterday, Dr. Dre made headlines when he and Jimmy Iovine donated $70 million to the University of Southern California. Donating to their Arts program, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine recently talked to LA Weekly about their upcoming work. Dr. Dre confirmed being back in the studio for Detox, talked about the new program, also the upcoming NWA movie.
