Dr. Dre's got a thing for electronics and he’s making it known with his newest business venture. The legendary rapper/producer is partnering up with HTC and Verizon to release a smartphone due out in a two weeks. Reports surfaced that he had sold a majority stake in his Beats Electronics to HTC for $309 million.

In a recent interview Dre stated, “I am trying to be number 2 to Apple, and number 2 to Apple is not a bad position to be in”.

Dr. Dre also noted,

I am trying to build my electronics company, Beats Electronics. We just signed a major deal with HTC and we have cell phones coming out in the next two weeks. I am involved in Chrysler; we are in cars right now. My whole thing is to take over everything with a speaker. That is what I am shooting for.

But what about his music career? He had an answer for that too.

I am never going to give music up. Music is like air to me, [music] is like oxygen, so I am always doing that. As soon as I get back to Los Angeles, I am back in the studio doing my thing. I have a couple of new artists that I am excited about … Kendrick Lamar and Slim The Mobster. These are the next two artists, and these are probably my final two artists that I am going to be working with at least for the next couple of years. I am going to devote all my attention to them and make sure their sh** comes out the way it should be. I am just having fun with life right now!
