Disturbing Tha Peace Records recently announced that it has signed battle rapper
Serius Jones. Jones is best known for defeating battle rap heavyweight
Jin at Fight Klub. Since then the New Jersey emcee received a number of record
label offers before ultimately deciding to ride with DTP, which is headed by Ludacris,
Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon.

"A lot of labels took interest and when it came down to it they [DTP]
were really the only ones that came to me real. The first time I met them they
brought the whole company to meet me. They really expressed what I needed them
to express, which was that they understood me as an artist. After talking to
a couple other labels I realized this was the best decision for me and my career
as far as a home," Serius Jones said.

Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam is running full speed ahead with Jones; his first
album Life Is Serius is slated for a Summer 2007 release. "I feel that
Serius is capable of changing the game as we know it," DTP CEO Chaka Zulu
said via statement. "He is battle-proven, but not limited to being a battle
rapper. His approach to hip-hop is refreshing and challenging, and it’s no holds
barred. ’07 is going to be serious for hip-hop… pun intended."

While fans will have to wait until Summer for the official DTP release, Jones
is currently making plans to drop his street album King Me very shortly. "That
should be out within the next month," Jones revealed. "My major release
will probably be out by the beginning of the summer but I want to have something
out so heads can have some Serius Jones to bump in the meantime before the real
debut hits."
