Eminem & Jay-Z Grace Stage for ‘DJ Hero’ Release Party
Los Angeles, CA – The next big thing in gaming is that of DJ Hero, turntablism’s version of Guitar Hero, this time involving more Hip-Hop. The huge success of Guitar Hero and Rock Band has bought on a new age of gaming with actual gameplay participation at its best. A celebration for the release of the game was held in Los Angeles at the Wiltern this past Monday night with a huge list of celebrities and artists in attendance.
The celebration began with TRVS/DJAM at the helm doing what they do best with music in their own unique blend and style. They played continuously throughout the night spinning songs that included: Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Welcome to the Jungle,’ Bell Biv Devoe’s ‘Poison,’ Michael Jackson’s ‘Rock With You,’ Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman,’ the White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’ and Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ Just a mixture of hits songs was being played from each genre throughout the night for the guests’ enjoyment. Guests seen in attendance were Leonardo DiCaprio, Pete Wentz, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, and the ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ star, Tyrese.
Amongst the list of performers included icons Eminem and Jay-Z, they both graced the stage to perform their joint hit that appeared on Jay’s Blueprint album some years back. Hov appeared on stage performing a medley of his biggest hits before a surprise appearance from Em to conclude Hov’s set. The two icons quickly ripped into ‘Renegade’ receiving a huge applaud from the excited crowd. As soon as Hov stepped off stage, Slim Shady performed a set of his own hits for the enthused crowd before stepping off stage.
The reception for DJ Hero has already been receiving great appeal even before its release. Freestyle Games is the game’s main developer and is being published and distributed by Activision. It will be released for the PS3, XBox 360, and Wii consoles. There will be Jay-Z tracks available on the playlists as well as mixed versions of ‘Renegade’ by Em and Jay. Eminem has also expressed adding his own songs to the game later as downloadable content.
Other music will also be provided through Universal Music.
DJ Hero will officially drop on October 27, 2009.
Drake Discusses Collaboration with Rihanna
New York, NY – Drake has become something of a phenomenon in Music as of late. Artists are flocking to him left and right for a verse, even written lyrics. The unsigned MC has been working with different people, one of them being Def Jam R&B starlet Rihanna, it seems though Ne-Yo isn’t the only sought out songwriter on the block anymore.
While in London working on Rihanna’s new album, DJ Semtex recently interviewed him about his recent projects with Rihanna and their rumored romance. The interview was posted on Semtex’s website sometime this week.
These were his comments:
“I’m actually writing for Rihanna right now, I guess I’m living a dream. I enjoy a challenge. I’ve never in my mind felt like, ‘Oh, I could probably write something crazy for Rihanna.’ That wasn’t my first thought. But being put up to the task, we’re coming up with some special stuff. It’s crazy, man. All I could do is smile. It’s nice.”
Semtex then continued on inquiring about the rumored relationship that has been swarming the net and the industry:
“Out here? Yeah, it’s just work. Me and Rihanna are just me and Rihanna. We’re cool and she’s great, man. She’s a great person, definitely. Whatever, we’re young, having fun and enjoying life. That’s all.”
Even though he is still unsigned, Drake has still been able to capture the hottest artists to feature on his mixtapes then any other unsigned artists out at the moment. Co-signed by heavyweight artists such as Lil Wayne and Jay-Z, who has initially confirmed their involvement in his debut album entitled ‘Thank Me Later,’ he hopes to release that album before Christmas.
At press time, his latest mixtape, ‘So Far Gone’ has been receiving rave reviews from fans and media alike. The guest features he has included in that not only co-sign him, but provides him with some top notch lyrics.
