New York, NY – Both Shady and Royce have a long history together that started towards the beginning of Em’s career. Royce was featured in Eminem’s 1999 debut ‘The Slim Shady LP’ and later in the year, they both released singles ‘Nuttin’ to Do,’ ‘Scary Movies,’ and ‘I’m the King’ all on Game Records. Em and Royce eventually caught beef between the two and those plans of releasing a collaboration called ‘Bad Meets Evil EP’ quickly halted.
It is now 2011 and Em sought out to revitalize his Shady Records, on the re-up, he quickly signed Hip-Hop supergroup Slaughterhouse and Alabama emcee Yelawolf. Through Slaughterhouse, he was able to pick up Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, and of course, one time nemesis, Royce Da 5’9. Through that signing, Em can now collaborate with each one individually releasing hit after hit. One of Shady Records’ projects alongside many others was officially announced today. Apparently Bad will meet Evil once again and an official EP will be on the way shortly.
Eminem and Interscope recently dropped a press release concerning a project that the two emcees Em and Royce have been planning for over a decade:
These were Em’s words in the statement:
“Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio. At first, we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are.”
Royce then added:
“I’m excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we’re working on the Monster that will be the Slaughterhouse album.”
At press time, no official release date has been set for any Shady project, the Slaughterhouse LP, the Yelawolf LP, or the Bad Meets Evil LP. However, so far the involved production has been set as beatmakers D12’s Mr. Porter, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, DJ Khalil and Bangladesh.
