Yelawolf recently posted pictures on instagram of him wearing the confederate flag. This stirred up negative responses to rapper. In March 2011, Yelawolf signed with Eminem record label Shady Records and released his debut album Radioactive.

Yelawolf released his sequel to his breakthrough mixtape Trunk Muzik, titled Trunk Muzik Returns on March 14, 2013, and his sophomore album under Shady Records, titled Love Story is set to be released in sometime this year. It seems the Alabama rapper Yelawolf was following in the footsteps of Kanye who was recently pictured with confederate flag.

Kanye stated that he was taken all negative and racist view from the flag and taken it as his own. This also resulted in Kanye receiving backlash due to the history of this flag.

"React how you want. Any energy you got is good energy. The Confederate flag represented slavery, my abstract take on what I know about it, I wrote 'New Slaves.' So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. Now what are you going to do?" Ye asked.

The confederate flag represents a time when slavery and segregation was condoned. You can try to change its meaning, but it will always be viewed as a sign of hatred and bigotry.  Just as the Swastika will always be associated with the Nazis.

Yelawolf maybe a follower but doesn’t appear to be racist and he recently removed all photos of him sporting the confederate flag from social media. The Alabama rapper has yet to respond to any of the negative feedback but his rapid remove of the pictures definitely shows that he meant no harm.
