One of the most hyped events of the year went down last night, March 30, that being WWE’s Wrestlemania XXIV. The event was the most successful in Wrestlemania history and grossed over 5 million in ticket sales alone.

Much of the success was due to the much talked about main event match between The Big Show and boxing star Floyd Mayweather. Many doubted Mayweather as he seemed to have the cards stacked against him with his inexperience and the obvious 400 pound weight difference between him and his opponent. However a pair of brass knuckles proved to be the equalizer in the match and The Big Show took a loss on this one after a solid blow to the jaw.

Kim Kardashian, Snoop Dogg, and John Legend also took place in the event which also set a new record for the Citrus Bowl attendance as Wrestlemania drew in over 74,000 people. Snoop Dogg and the rest didn’t step into the ring like Mayweather but instead had refereeing duties while Mr. Legend sang one of his little piano ditties.

Although Hip Hop obviously played a large part in this Wrestlemania’s success there were other factors as well as the WWE Chairman points out: “We would like to thank WWE Fans from around the globe for making this year’s WrestleMania one for the record books,” said Geof Rochester, WWE’s Executive Vice President, Marketing. “We would also like to thank Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and John Saboor, President of the Central Florida Sports Commission, for all of their hospitality during WrestleMania week. It was a tremendous experience.”
