Philadelphia rapper Gillie Da Kid was released from prison on
Friday (Feb. 16). The rapper was arrested on Feb. 6, after authorities searched
two houses on Passmore Street in Philadelphia and found more than 89 pounds of
marijuana worth an estimated street value of $404,000. Gillie and four associates
were charged with conspiracy and possessing narcotics with intent to deliver.

"He is extremely happy to be home and is resting comfortably with his
family," representatives for Gillie said in a press release. "He maintains
his innocence and is looking forward to promoting and releasing his upcoming
mixtape album."

Prior to being incarcerated, Gillie was preparing to release The Best of The
Gillie Da Kid Mixtapes, which hits stores Mar. 13 on Babygrande Records. While
Gille Da Kid focuses on his mixtape series, police are also investigating the
rapper’s involvement in another house in the area, where officers confiscated
$6 million in cocaine last year.
