Allhiphop.com– A veteran Hip-Hop producer has filed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga’s producer Rob Fusari and his company Rob Fusari Productions over several of the pop singer’s hit singles.
Calvin Gaines is a Hip-Hop producer who started out working with New York legends like MC Lyte, Stetsasonic, Salt-N-Pepa, Ultramagnetic MC’s and others.
On June 15th, Gaines filed a $1,000,000 dollar lawsuit in United States District Court, Southern District of New York, claiming he was cheated out of credit and royalties for co-authoring Lady Gaga’s hit single’s “Paparazzi,” “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” and “Disco Heaven.”
According to the lawsuit, Fusari and Gaines met each other around 1997, when they co-authored and co-produced five songs for Brandy, which were never released.
The pair went on to co-write and co-author Destiny’s Child’s smash singles “No No No” “You’re the Only One.”
The songwriting duo later linked to write the three songs in question for Lady Gaga.
According to Gaines, he is 20% owner of the copyrights in the songs, but Fusari allegedly transferred Gaines’ interests in the compositions to Sony/ATV songs.
According to Gaines’ lawsuit, he has never received a penny in connection with his co-authorship of the three hit singles.
Gaines claims he is owed millions from royalties from Lady Gaga’s The Fame album, which has sold over 3 million copies in the United States.
The record has also been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum in 25 other countries.
