According to reports, Hawk (born Jonathan Hawkins) was heading to a friend’s house to play dominos when he was shot multiple times near the intersection of Redfern and East Orem.

Spearheaded by DJ Screw, the Screwed Up Click helped popularize screw music, a movement that slow down the pitch of original recordings; producing a slow-motion effect on the music. The crew also produced notable artists like Lil’ Flip and Z-Ro. DJ Screw died in 2000. Reports are still conflicting regarding the causes of his death. Hawk, who was married three weeks ago, is survived by his wife, a five-year-old son and an infant son.

R.I.P. to Hawk.
