Joliet, IL – In updated news in the case of the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew, the prime suspect being held in custody is her brother in law, William Balfour. After a hearing to allow him to be released on bail was declined, he will remain behind bars for violation of parole until his next court date December 3.

At the time evidence has not been found to link him to the murders, however collected witnesses are providing testimonial evidence. Police are still searching for the gun used in the murder. Witness reports state that he was seen with a gun matching the description of the .45-caliber weapon used in the three killings.

During the hearing, Balfour denied any involvement in the murders or even being in possession of a weapon. Illinois State Board Chairman Jorge Montes stated that, “He seemed to be disturbed. He contested those allegations (about the gun). He was protesting the introduction of that evidence and he denied it.”

Balfour’s criminal history dates further back whereby the 27 year old was convicted back in 1999 of attempted murder and vehicular hijacking; he was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois state penitentiary.

At press time, the authorities are calling him a ‘person of interest’ in the Hudson case; however charges have yet to be filed.
