What is up with this chick and label deals, she makes it seem like label deals are handled out like flyers? Iggy Azalea is quite possibly on her highest plateau, between her tenure at Interscope, then signing under T.I.’s Grand Hustle, and now inking an official deal with Island Def Jam, I don’t think anyone can determine what direction she is planning to go with this.

Currently, it appears as though she is not under any contractual agreements with T.I. or Grand Hustle, it was reported that the Bankhead native would helm the executive producer seat on her forthcoming long-overdue studio debut ‘The New Classic.’

According to a press release that does not mention T.I. nor Grand Hustle, it was announced that the Australian femcee has officially signed with Island Def Jam.

Check out the official press release:

“New York, NY – April 23, 2013 – – Buzzing in industry circles on both sides of the Atlantic for the past year, Australian-born Iggy Azalea – the stunning 22-year-old female hip-hop artist – has been the highly-sought-after object of several bidding wars and a fierce competition between labels vying for the talents of this beautiful young star. Today, Island Records president David Massey announces Iggy Azalea has signed exclusively to Island Records in the U.S.

“We are beyond proud and excited to welcome Iggy to the Island Def Jam family,” said Massey. “Iggy has created a massive buzz and rightfully so: she’s incredibly talented, she’s focused, driven, and has great creative tastes and instincts. She is nothing short of an international star, and the team here – including Steve Bartels, Chris Anokute, Karen Kwak, our chairman Barry Weiss and myself – are thrilled she’s chosen Island Records as her U.S. home.”

“I am elated to be a part of the Island Def Jam family!” said Iggy Azalea. “After speaking in depth with David, Steve and Chris, it became clear that Island Records was attuned to the type of artist I am. They are a great addition to my UK team, and I couldn’t have asked for a more understanding and aspirational group of people to work with.”

The signing comes as Iggy’s debut single “Work” – an autobiographical tale of a young girl with “no money, no family, 16 in the middle of Miami,” who lands stateside with barely a dollar and a dream – is rocketing up the charts in the U.K. The track has been A-listed at Radio 1 and has broken into the Top 15 at iTunes.

The real story, however, is the incendiary video for the track, which has racked up over 6 million views on VEVO since its release earlier this month – the majority of those views coming from U.S. audiences. American fans are hungry for Iggy, and Island Def Jam is preparing to service “Work” to radio and video outlets immediately. View the incredible “Work” video below.”

After the release of the statement many people questioned her position with T.I. and her departure from Grand Hustle. She sought to twitter to clear the air of all speculations about her involvement within the Hustle Gang project, which she states that she is still apart of:

As news surfaced of her signing with Island, many fans and industry insiders alike sought to her twitter to congratulate her on landing her new venture.
