With oversight by Sean “Jay-Z” Carter, who collaborated with Shinoda on the mash-up album, Collision Course, The Rising Tied features an eclectic mixed of guests from both the rock and hip-hop world. The album, the first project from Shinoda’s new hip-hop band, Fort Minor, hosts appearances by Common, John Legend, Kenna, Black Thought and LP’s Joe Hahn along with Styles of Beyond and Holly Brook. Shinoda produced the entire album, playing every instrument, minus the strings.

“The Fort Minor record is all about getting back to basics in Hip-Hop, both sonically and for me personally,” stated Shinoda. “And working with Jay-Z again has been phenomenal. We can’t wait for people to hear the final product.”The album’s first single, “Petrified/Remember the Name” is presently being distributed to clubs and mixshow DJs across the country. The two tracks will be available for online download as of October 4th.

This doesn’t mark Shinoda’s first steps into Hip-Hop. Back in 2002, he rhymed on “It’s Going Down,” the first single off the X-ecutioners’ Built From Scratch album. A few months later,he released the LP Reanimation, a set heavy with Hip-Hop production and with guest spots from Pharoahe Monch and Evidence of Dilated Peoples. And last year’s Collision Course mash-up collaboration between LinkinPark and Jay-Z sold well over 1 million copies.

Fort Minor’s The Rising Tied is slated to hit stores November 22nd.
