Jay – Z once again is showing the world that he is still the God Mc and one of the greatest of all time if not the greatest rapper of all time.He has been able to with stand the test of time all the while keeping his finger on the pulse of this new hip hop generation.His new album Magna Carter Holy Grail debut at number 1 with first week sales of 528,000 copies.This is the 13th number 1 album in his career and will cement his legacy for most chart topping albums from a solo artist and second behind all artist coming in behind the beatles who peaked at 19.

“Rap is on a rampage,” says Keith Caulfield, Billboard‘s associate director of charts/retail, noting that rap could extend its reign if Jay-Z clings to the summit for a second week. “If you’re a fan of hip-hop, it’s been a great month.”

 Magna also set a record for the biggest first week ever on digital music service Spotify, with more than 14 million album streams.

The album did receive great promotion with the whole Samsung free download app and all those commercials during the NBA playoffs and online.
