Adding to his ever growing resume, Jay-Z along with Steve
Stoute
(who’s best known to the public
for taking a bottle of bubbly to the dome at the hands of  P. Diddy) has opened a new marketing firm
called Translation Advertising. The goal of the firm is to help bridge the gap
between the major manufacturers of products and the youth they hope to peddle
it to.

Corporate America
has long acknowledged the buying power of the Hip Hop consumer and have
marketed towards them but have not seemed to fully understand the culture and
it’s many aspects. We’ve all seen the goofy ad’s that portray our culture in a
severely outdated fashion, (T-Mobile’s fa shizzle my nizzle ads anyone?), or that
refuse to acknowledge our growth as a culture.
The new partners said what they hope to accomplish with this agency is a
more respectable and responsible way to market to us. As Jay said “This is a
way to talk to corporate America
and have them understand our voice, not satirize it. I mean we don’t really go
into a store and start break dancing when we go shopping for a phone (laughs).
Basically just a better understanding.” Translation is expected  to announce it’s first
clients in the coming weeks.
