New York, NY – It has become apparent that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s trip to Cuba isn’t phasing anyone but Congress. Even with all the controversy, the artist/entrepreneur has made the cover for Time Magazine’s ‘The 100 Most Influential People in the World.’ Now if you think about it, amongst all the people in the world that they could have chosen, in the forefront of the Hip-Hop world, they chose Jay-Z.
If making the cover wasn’t enough, they even had the Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg write the article within the magazine about Hov.
Bloomberg definitely had some kind and powerful words to say about the Roc Nation CEO:
“Jay-Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition.”
The mayor also recognized Jay-Z’s business attributes and how he built his own music empire to bringing the Nets into Brooklyn:
“He’s an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions,” Bloomberg continues. “He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city — and as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood.”
He concluded adding that even with all of Jay’s successful accomplishments, he even put a ring on Beyoncé:
“In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.”
Jay-Z joins a list of other artists, actors, and politicians that has included: his wife Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, President Obama, Michelle Obama, and many more.
Make sure to cop that issue.
