New York, NY – Eminem recently released the video to the hit single ‘Space Bound,’ which was off of the multiplatinum selling ‘Recovery.’ Because the video was shot in February of this year and the Shady Records CEO began commencement on other projects, many people thought that Em just scrapped the video completely and decided not to release it at all. It seems as though Em liked the song and the concept that the Joseph Kahn directed video played right into the video treatment. The video drop was as surprising as it was to even the producer the helmed the track. According to Jim Jonsin, he didn’t even know Em was going to release it as a single.

Veteran producer Jim Jonsin recently spoke with MTV News about the original concept behind the track ‘Space Bound’ and the timeline before it initially fell into the Detroit emcee’s hands. So ‘Space Bound’ was actually missing Eminem during the commencement stages of the original recorded song.

These were his comments:

“It was actually a full song with verses, b-section, and a chorus. Me and Steve McEwan actually wrote the song, we actually did it here in New York on guitar — it was just a guitar vocal on an iPhone. We took the idea later in Miami, like three months after, and produced the track, and we sent it out to Eminem to see what he thought about it. He loved it. So he interpreted it his own way.”

The original concept of the song remained mostly intact, while the track’s chorus acted as an initial guide for Eminem to add his lyrical massacre:

“The chorus was based off of a chase, a guy who’s chasing after a woman that he’s crazy about, he loves her; she’s everything to him. I’m a rocket ship aiming at her heart, her heart’s the moon — I’m going full-on.”

According to Jonsin, the process of getting it to Eminem was actually the difficult part. Jonsin’s manager made the original suggestion to send it to Em. Jonsin, at first, doubted that Em would even do anything with it:

“He had me strip down the verses, take them out, and make the track a little more Hip-Hop, and he sent it out. I didn’t really believe that it would end up on Eminem’s album, let alone be a single.”

At press time, Jonsin had already made mention that he would be working amongst the Shady camp with recently signed artist, Yelawolf, being one of his main projects. At the same time, the multi-platinum producer also stated he would he working alongside Eminem on the production of new material for Em’s next album.
