Kanye West has inked a deal with Comedy Central to bring a new puppet show to the network hopefully in the 1st quarter of 2009. The show will go in the vein of the classic Muppets TV but have hip hop infused in it by  featuring sketches and musical acts all performed by a different hip hop star every week. Mr. West will assume the hosting duties of each episode along with fellow rapper Rhymefest, who will also have a hand in the production as he is one of the shows producers.

The press release for the show put out earlier today says the show is tentatively titled “Alligator Boots”. A reason for the strange name was not given. The team that brought the idea to Kanye were the same minds behind Comedy Central’s hit show Crank Yankers, which features puppets making crank phone calls. No statement has come yet from Kanye but I’m sure one will be made soon via his various ranting weekly blogs.
