Music business honcho Antonio “L.A.” Reid has officially been named Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, the label’s parent, Sony Music Entertainment has announced.

LA Reid comes to Epic Records from Island Def Jam Music group, where he served as chairman of the company.

Under Reid’s watch, artists like Kanye West, Outkast, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, the killers, and others have flourished due to his industry expertise.

Prior to his stint at Island Def Jam Music Group, L.A. Reid served as CEO of Arista Records and before that, he was head of influential Atlanta record label LaFace Records.

L.A. Reid comes to epic records as Sony Music Entertainment consolidates various divisions within the company, including the once profitable label, Jive.

The deal will not impact L.A. Reid’s upcoming deal with Fox’s competitive television series The X Factor,” where he will serve as a judge alongside American Idol’s Simon Cowell. via (AllhiphopNews)
