Torrence Hatch, who goes by the stage name “Lil Boosie”, finally received a release date and could probably be home by Feb.16, 2014 according to Nola.com. Boosie’s release date has been consistently changing, and huge topic in hip hop and for die hard fans/ supporters.
The Baton Rouge rapper has been incarcerated since 2009 when he plead guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge. Boosie got four years for that charge because the judge also determined Lil Boosie also violated his probation.
Lil Boosie also pleaded guilty again in 2011 for attempting to smuggle drugs into prison, which added 8 more years to his sentence. Fans and supporters have been demanding a release date and now they have what they petitioned for. In the midst of all this a jury found Lil Boosie not guilty of first degree murder in the 2009 murder of Terry Boyd.
Lil Boosie’s manager/ brother Taquari Hatch, has stated to Nola.com that “Lil Boosie could be home by Feb. 16, 2014 thanks to various programs he’s participated in to earn early release date”, but the official date on record is May 16,2014.
In January 2013 interview in prison Lil Boosie spoke on his prison sentence and said,
“I have about 500 songs at the moment. I feel that I’m making the best music I’ve ever made. The more I go through in life the better my music gets and it’s been crazy the last three years. I keep my music heartfelt and stick to making real music. I wouldn’t even say it’s Hip Hop music. My music is ‘reality rap.’ Hip Hop music can make you dance and bob your head, but it can’t make you cry or touch your heart like reality rap”
In a separate conversation with Pam Laborde, the agency’s communications director, NOLA.com added that Boosie will be under supervision until June 17, 2018. Lil Boosie music has been missing in hip hop, so even under supervision I’m sure they will make arrangements to get him back on stage. Hip Hop is definitely waiting for his return.
