Lil Wayne Cancels Shows Due to Unspecified Illness
It seems as though the most popular and anticipated tour of the summer has been experiencing some physical difficulties as of late that has been apparently out of the hands of the artists involved. First, the America’s Most Wanted Tour presented by Young Money lost Toronto MC, Drake, earlier in the tour due to an injured knee, now, most recently, Lil Wayne had to cancel two shows in Canada due to an unspecified illness that suddenly stuck him.
The Hip-Hop fans in the major cities of Vancouver and Edmonton were anticipating the arrival of the hottest nationwide tour of the summer with tickets in hand and excitement in the air as their date was around the corner. Apparently, all that anticipation and excitement suddenly died down when the show was canceled at the last minute. The venues official website and ticketmaster could not specify an initial reason, just merely stating that the show was canceled. While no reason was specified by the venues, the representatives of Young Money did, however, provide a statement explaining the reason behind the sudden cancelation that upset a plethora of people.
This was the official statement:
“Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada. The tour, headlined by Lil Wayne featuring Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Pleasure P and Jeremih, was scheduled to come through Vancouver and Edmonton on August 17th and 18th. Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest. Young Money Presents America’s Most Wanted Music Festival will continue their tour routing as planned and extends an apology to the fans for the cancellation.”
One artist from the performance roster, Soulja Boy, even had some time to kill as he tweeted about it to his fans:
“Show got canceled tonight in Vancouver … gonna go shoot a video to ‘Successful.’ Gonna hop on a plane to L.A. chill there for a couple days since the two Canada shows got canceled.”
In related news, many reports have been circulating blazing through media outlets as of late that the rumors are true, Lauren London is in fact pregnant with Lil Wayne’s child. During a radio interview with L.A. radio personality, Fuzzy, on Power 106, Lil Wayne revealed that Lauren London is with child, his child. When Fuzzy inquired about London’s obvious belly, Wayne responded with an amused grin, that she was ‘very pregnant, yes.’ The L.A. radio jock than proceeded to congratulate the MC as he humbly accepted. This will be Lil Wayne’s first child between London and him, but his third child altogether from all his previous relationships.
Rick Ross Enthused about his Favorite MCs
Rick Ross has always been known as that musical monster, the man spreads predominantly most of his time in the studio. The Boss literally records music by the hour as the day passes. It goes without saying that ‘Deeper Than Rap’ was a very powerful album that put him on a whole different level. Ross also does enjoy collaborations with some of the top notch artists in the game today, some of them are even his favorite MCs as a fan and a friend.
Here are the Boss’ comments about his music and the artists that feature on them:
“Aw, man. It’s better than sex when you go create something that’s actually dope and turn around [and put it right out],” he said about feeding the Internet and the streets with mixtape material. “That’s like one of my favorite kicks. It’s online everywhere. It’s on every blog, and I literally decided two hours ago to do that, and by me doing that, this is reaction, this is the response. That’s what we look for, we look for response. We need our records to have a response.
Already lauded as arguably the best rap album of the year so far, Ross’ #1-debuting Deeper Than Rap already got the response he’s been seeking. One of the album’s major boppers was ‘Maybach Music 2.’ Ross just released a remix of that record with a new lineup, consisting of Fabolous, the Birdman and Pusha T.
Once again, it was just pushing the envelope,We did ‘Maybach Music,’ a critically acclaimed record. We did a shout-out to Jay-Z, and then on ‘2,’ T-Pain, Kanye West, myself and Lil Wayne. It was an event. It was definitely a boss move. And then, we came back with ‘2.5.’ I just got so many artists telling me, ‘Oh, man, if only I could’ve got on that record.’ It’s a lot of people’s favorite joint. So, I went and got some of my favorite MCs — of course, Birdman.
I look at my favorites for different reasons, and it’s also about a feeling I get,” Ross added. “When I hear Birdman rapping, it’s a feeling used to I get when I’m in the streets that you could only get from that big homie that was making money. That’s the feeling I get when I hear Birdman. Fabolous, he did his thing. I most definitely touched it. It wasn’t no commercial game, no financial game. It was just me doing it for hip-hop, doing it for the streets of New York, doing it for L.A., doing it for the South.”
At press time, Ross has been spreading numerous amounts of hours in the studio lately as he has recording for three different albums, one being his own. The Boss has been excessively working on his first group album with Triple C, entitled ‘Custom Cars & Cycles.’ as well as a compilation album with one of his favorite MCs, Birdman, entitled simply as ‘ The H.’ His own album has already secured an interesting album title that Ross has been known for. The fourth studio from the Boss has been distinguishably entitled ‘Teflon Don’ and has been confirmed by many media outlets. All albums are set to be released under his imprint, Maybach Music, with drop dates scheduled for 2009.
