There were whispers going around that Ludacris’  DTP label handed out
several pink slips for it’s entire R&B roster, including artists
Shareefa, Bobby Valentino, and Steph Jones last week. Well those exact
details have not yet been confiremd nor denied but it was announced yesterday, March 3rd, that Luda has extended his DTP label deal with Def
Jam for an unknown amount of time. So Luda is definitely on and that I
think we all expected but as for the fate of the other ones… well  I
believe a tell tale sign came out after the usual back patting in the
statement made by Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid.

“The Atlanta
hip-hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than
they can ever repay to Chris,” said L.A. before getting to the real
details. “Now changing business conditions necessitate that we review
our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities
and challenges are aggressively achieved.”  Translation, those other
guys are gone for sure, as for Cris though, he definitely seems to still
have that “#1 Spot” in L.A.’s heart. “Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha
Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an
important part of the Island Def Jam family.” Well in this case one
man’s gain is defnitiely a few people’s loss.

We still can’t say
for certain though since we haven’t heard any word from Luda or the DTP
camp, but it doesn’t look good for em’. Either way though I know for
sure Bobby V. and Shareefa will both be straight if they continue to
grind out in this thing. The other guy I’ve honestly never heard of but
good luck to him to.
