McDonald’s has reportedly dropped Twista from its “McDonald’s Live” tour due to his explicit lyrical content.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the fast-food company released a statement on Friday (July 27) saying the Chicago rapper’s lyrics raised concerns because their tour is an initiative to connect with its young audience.  “Although we respect free speech and artistic expression, we do not condone or perpetuate derogatory language,” the statement said.

Last month Twistawas also targeted for his lyrical content in a Chicago church’s campaign called “Stop Listening To Trash.” Twista was among seven rappers appearing on a billboard posted throughout his hometown, featuring the rapper’s name in a garbage can.

Reverend Michael Pfleger, the man responsible for launching the Chicago campaign, applauded McDonald’s decision to cut Twista from its tour. “They have to make wise decisions about the image they’re going to use to reach young people and they have to be corporately responsible,” Pfleger said. “If they’re going to use entertainers who promote violence and demean women, that’s irresponsible behavior. I hope other industries and corporations will take note and do the same.”

The McDonald’s tour, featuring R&B crooner Ne-Yo and latino singer Kat Deluna, launched on Thursday (July 26), making stops at various McDonald’s parking lots across the country.
