After serving a three year stint, one half of infamous legendary Mobb Deep has officially completed his sentence today (March 7). Prodigy was charged with gun possession some time in 2008 and sentenced to serve a mandatory three years in a state penitentiary. According to various sources close to Prodigy, including that of 50 Cent and Havoc, stated that he will be released sometime this week.

After hearing news of his release, he quickly released a photo via twitter to many of his friends and associates. Even though Mobb Deep is no longer signed to G-Unit, Prodigy and 50 still maintain a good mutual business relationship. 50 even posted the photo sent by prodigy on his own twitter and didn’t waste any time watermarking and tagging Thisis50.com all over the photo.

Even though Prodigy was serving time behind bars, his counterpart, Havoc, continued his work in the studio waiting for P’s release. According to Havoc, who stated in an interview with XXL Magazine, after Prodigy’s release, their schedule will be real hectic as P has a lot of catching up to do with recording and such.

Havoc even commented about P’s release and the transition in his lyrical style:

“[Prodigy] is ready is touch the town, go home, get to work [and] catch up on a lot of shit that he missed. Instead of writing records recklessly, he wants them to mean something.”

Hav also added comments about the situation with G-Unit and Interscope:

“It was a problem for Interscope, where I guess they felt that we didn’t sell enough records for them at that time…So they let us go off the roster and we was like, the stipulations in contracts was real technical so after that I think the G-unit contracts just expired…[But] we [won’t] stay homeless for long.”

At press time, Prodigy has completed an autobiography entitled ‘My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy’ and is officially due out April 19.  As for Mobb Deep, the duo will be completing work on their upcoming studio album entitled ‘Blood Diamonds’ which will be released some time towards the end of this year or early next year, after they finally land a deal with a distribution company.
