The Hip-Hop artist and occasional actor was scheduled to perform this Wednesday at Auckland’s Powerstation, and his Australian dates have been postponed.
Mos Def – whose 2009 album The Ecstatic topped many best-of lists and was nominated for a Grammy Award – was set to bring his tour to support that record to the Powerstation in Auckland on Wednesday night and to Wellington on Thursday.

A statement released today said the dates were being postponed “due to circumstances beyond our control”.

“Hip-hop artist Mos Def will not be performing in New Zealand and Australia this week. We wish to advise that the near sold out Mos Def Auckland show at The Powerstation scheduled for Wednesday 19th January has been postponed,” the statement said.

“There has been an incredible amount of excitement around the concert and we understand that many fans will be disappointed by this news.”

New dates would be announced within the next week, but refunds are available.
