Method Man will play Deputy Turner in the horror movie Venom which hits theatres today (September 16th ).

The story revolves around a group of teenagers who try to uncover the truth behind a friend’s mysterious death. What they discover is an evil force worse than they could have possibly magined. Meagan Good ( Torque, Eve’s Bayou) and Bijou Philips ( Bully, Black & White) also star in the movie.

Boris Kodjoe ( Brown Sugar, Love & Basketball ) will star in the coming of age musical drama titled The Gospel. Boris plays an R&B singer who turns his back on God and his father’s church when tragedy strikes. He returns years later to find the once powerful congregation in disarray.

With his childhood nemesis creating a “new vision” for the church, he is forced to deal with family turmoil, career suicide and relationship issues that send him on a collision course with redemption or destruction. The movie will hit theatres on October 7th.

On September 20th , Bill Bellamy (How To Be A Player, Any Given Sunday ) will release his debut comedy DVD titled Bill Bellamy: Back To My Roots. The DVD showcases Bill’s unique brand of in your face comedy with his hilarious perspective on dating, politics and the overall state of America. This hysterical DVD will also be featured on Comedy Central in October.

A remake of the 1976 horror classic The Omen is currently in the works. Omen 666 will star Julia Stiles (Save The Last Dance, O ) and Liev Schreiber (The Manchuruan Candidate, Scream 3).

The GZA/Genius and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill/Soul Assassins fame will headline a concert to commemorate the 20th year anniversary of the DMC/Technics World DJ Championship. GZA and Muggs are also preparing to release their collaboration album entitled DJ Muggs vs. GZA; Grandmasters on October 25th. GZA and Muggs will perform at the DMC World Championship on Sunday September 25, 2005 in London, England.

On September 23rd, Jodie Foster ( Panic Room, The Silence Of The Lambs) will star in the suspense/drama Flight Plan. Jodie plays a mother (Kyle )who’s six-year-old daughter Julia vanishes without a trace mid-flight from Berlin to New York. Already emotionally devastated by the unexpected death of her husband, Kyle desperately struggles to prove her sanity to the disbelieving flight crew and passengers while facing the very real possibility that she may be losing her mind.

Mario Van Peebles ( Malcolm X, Ali) has signed to direct Yellow Wood, a mystery thriller that marks a follow-up to “Baadasssss!” his acclaimed 2003 homage to his pioneering filmmaker father, Melvin.The story centers on a woman who is haunted by the long-ago murder of her older sister. Working with a radical researcher, she travels deep into her dreamscape and is able to relive and change the past, but things don’t work out as planned. The movie will begin production in December.

The highly anticipated NBA Live 06 will hit gaming stores on September 27th. The game has the new feature EA SPORTS Freestyle Superstars which allows users to dictate the actions of the top NBA stars with full user control over dazzling passes rebounds dunks and steals within 5-on-5 gameplay. Steve Kerr and Marv Albert call the 5-on-5 action while Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith bring their own unique flavor to the slam dunk contest and 3-point shootout. The game will feature music from Stat Quo, Spider Loc, Q-Tip. Busta Rhymes, Afu-Ra, Bishop Lamont , Black Eyed Peas, Chamillionaire, Jae Millz, N.O.R.E., Jurassic 5 , Lupe Fiasco and much more.

Three Six Mafia’s Juicy J and DJ Paul will co-star in their straight to DVD comedy Clean Up Men on October 18th. The story centers on two brothers played by Shawty “What My Name Is” Shawty and Roland Powell who find themselves in the middle of an organized car theft ring run by a notorious criminalplayed by Miguel Nunez Jr.

Ashanti just wrapped up work on her latest flick John Tucker Must Die. Murder Inc’s princess plays one of a trio of girls at the school who are taken in by the charms of serial cheater John Tucker. When the girls find out they are getting played, they turn on each other but come together to set up their former lover to fall for the new girl in town so they can watch him get his heart broken. The movie is due out in the spring.

Bulletproof, the video game starring 50 Cent will hit stores on November 23rd. The game finds 50 Cent caught in a web of corruption double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York’s drug underworld. Teaming up with his G Unit crew 50 Cent takes on the most dangerous crime families in the city uncovering an international conspiracy with devastating implications.

NBA 2k6 will hit stores on September 28th. The game has new features like training camp competitions, endorsement deals and mini-games. Def Jam CEO/President Jay-Z will present rap impresario Russell Simmons with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Power Summit, an annual hip-hop conference. The event is being held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 in the Bahamas. In addition, Sean Paul, Kanye West, Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes will premiere their new music at the industry get-together.

Cedric the Entertainer has been tapped to host the 33rd Annual American Music Awards, airing live November 22nd on ABC. Cedric will also host Film Life’s 2005 Black Movie Awards which takes place October 9th in Los Angeles

Laurence Fishburne ( Matrix, King Of New York) has been tapped to star in A Landlord’s Tale. Fishburne will play Amos Brown, a smooth talking hustler who goes straight when he inherits two Harlem brownstones. However, he still lands himself in trouble with a West Indian druglord and even finds a skeleton in one of the brownstones.
