I’m sure some of you guys have already heard the reports about Nas getting arrested on DUI charges in Georgia earlier this fall. Well, he is finally speaking out about the incident and confirms that the events took place. He even claims that he was a victim of racial profiling. According to TMZ:

“What’s going on?,” Nas asked on-street media as he exited a building. “No such thing man, no such thing. Yeah, that’s hilarious right? You know what it is, profiling man. But you know they can’t stop a good man from shining. Y’all take care. Yeah, you know what I mean? Take care man.”

Nas however did admit to being under the influence of marijuana when the police first caught up to him. Us Magazine reports:

“When rapper Nas was arrested for DUI this past fall, he was driving under the influence of marijuana. The star, 36 was taken in by Henry County cops near his Georgia home on Sept. 10, and according to a police report, he admitted that he was smoking weed at a friend’s house before the arrest.”

Since then, according to The Celebrity Café the charges against Nas have been dropped.

“The case was dismissed after the artist’s drug test came back negative, even after Nas had admitted to officials and reporters that he had been smoking marijuana before being pulled over.”

Nas’ lawyer John C. Mayoue, has even spoken up about the issue and maintains that his client is now in the clear. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mayoue had this to say:

“A lawyer for Grammy award nominated  rapper Nas refutes reports of the rapper’s DUI charges from a Sept. 10 arrest. John C. Mayoue represents the New York. native. “Nas has not been charged with any offense whatsoever, including DUI,” said Mayoue. “The state’s own lab results were negative for any drugs, including marijuana.”

Well I’m pretty sure Nas wouldn’t cry “racial profiling” unless there was indeed some validity in the claim. However, having marijuana on deck is not a good look! He must have known it was over from there. Luckily, all this is over and he can move on with his life. Stay outta trouble!

Busta Rhymes Skips Out On Court Date and Forced to Pay $75K

Speaking of rappers losing their DAMN minds; Busta Rhymes is back in the headlines after he missed his court date for an assault case this month. He will be forced to pay $75,000 after missing nearly ten hearings in the case and the judge eventually ruled in the plaintiff’s favor.  The New York Post reported:

“The East Flatbush-born Rhymes sent his lawyer to argue the judgment on grounds that the rap star wasn’t properly notified of the case, causing him to miss seven hearings. That led a hearing officer to make the cash award. But Supreme Court Justice  Donald Kurtz didn’t agree with Rhymes’ lawyer, Anthony Xanthakis. “It looks like we busted up Busta’s rhyme,” cracked lawyer Ron Hart, who represented the injured fan, Alex Duncan, a 32-year-old Albany resident.”

In the initial reports, Duncan had requested a half a million dollars. He claimed in these initial reports that the assault had a negative impact on his social life. According to Six Shot:

“Duncan’s lawyer, Ronald Hart, had requested $500,000 of the hearing officer, Luigi Marano. Rhymes’ lawyer, Robert Kalina, was a no-show for both the trial and yesterday’s damages hearing. He did not return a call seeking comment”

The New York Times reports:

“A Brooklyn judge has ordered Busta Rhymes  to pay $75,000 to a man who said the rapper assaulted him at a 2003 concert in Albany. Alex Duncan, 32, said that when he got up to leave the show, he and Busta Rhymes exchanged words, and the rapper splashed him with a bottle of water and threw two other bottles at him. Busta Rhymes did not show up for any of his hearings, including the one last week. His lawyer argued that he wasn’t properly notified of the court dates, but did not challenge Mr. Duncan’s allegations.”

Well, damn Busta! Why didn’t you just show up to the cases? I guess when they dropped the request from half a mil to 75K you felt like you didn’t need to show up. Busta got off real easy with that one. I’m sure Mr. Duncan isn’t complaining about it either though. So what’s the moral of this story kids? If you whoop someone’s ass, don’t come to court!  (COMEDY). Looks like the jail fairy was on your side this time Busta!
