We are all aware of the ongoing songwriting credit controversy between Ne-Yo and Beyonce over the Stargate produced track entitled ‘Irreplaceable.’ It was reported in 2007 that an irate Ne-Yo heard Beyonce stating that she wrote the song, which in fact became a huge hit across the globe, that Ne-Yo apparently states that he wrote word for word. At that point in time, Beyonce would not admit to Ne-Yo claiming creation to a song that she was quite proud of. Ne-Yo even stated that ‘Irreplaceable’ was one song he should have kept for himself.

Fast forward to 2011, Ne-Yo is now reiterating the statements that he once said about the R&B starlet, stating that the media and the fans misunderstood him and misconstrued his words completely. They stated he blatantly dissed Beyonce, when in reality it wasn’t a diss. During an interview, he even reiterated his comments:

“One song that I gave away and didn’t want to, but it’s actually a good thing that I did, is Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceable.’ I honestly wrote that song for myself, but that song taught me a very interesting lesson: Many women don’t think that differently. However, a man singing it comes across a little bit misogynistic, a little bit mean.”

When someone on twitter continued to claim and boost that Ne-Yo dissed Beyonce, the singer/songwriter     quickly jumped on his twitter and posted this in defense:

“Aiight my dude. Send me the link to where I said ANYTHING disrespectful about Beyonce, PLEASE! Dying to hear this, just heard the audio where I supposedly dissed Beyonce. ARE Y’ALL SERIOUS!?! Did y’all even listen to what I said!?!”

Ne-Yo decided to continue going in on twitter posting more comments post after post, explaining to the misunderstood:

“I said I originally wrote the song for me. That’s true, so OF COURSE I didn’t want to give it away originally. IT WAS FOR ME, once I realized how the song comes across if sung by a guy, that’s when I decided to give it away. HOW IS THAT DISSING BEYONCE!?! She took the song and made it a smash, NOBODY can deny that.”

“You know what? At first I was apologetic about what the hacker said, now that I’ve heard the audio myself, not so much. Y’all should listen a lil’ harder before you start dissin’ people. Makes you look real dumb. I’m tired of being nice to dumb people. … Bottom line, Beyonce is my friend. To HELL with anybody that ain’t SMART enough to understand what I truly meant.”

Sounds like he’s tired of explaining himself to the fans, do you think that Ne-Yo was dissing Beyonce, even in the beginning? Regardless that over 4 years have passed since the song became a hit, Ne-Yo is still defending himself.
In related news, Ne-Yo has been quite busy as of late writing songs for numerous amounts of artists from Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, and even to Beyonce. He recently co-starred in the film ‘Battle: Los Angeles,’ which was released over the weekend to theaters worldwide, where he played a geeky marine alongside Michelle Rodriguez and Aaron Eckhart. Ne-Yo is currently working his fifth studio album entitled Love and Passion due for a late 2011 or early 2012 release.
