A 28-year-old woman found shot to death in a car that crashed into the gates of a New Orleans apartment complex has been identified as Renetta “Magnolia Shorty” Lowe, a bounce MC who had been affiliated with Cash Money Records.

News of the rapper’s death spread through New Orleans and the Internet late Monday afternoon, but the New Orleans coroner’s office did not identify the deceased until this morning. She was in the crashed vehicle with 25-year-old Jerome Hampton; both Magnolia Shorty and Hampton were ruled to have died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.

Magnolia Shorty joined the Cash Money crew in the early ’90s, appeared on a Juvenile song when she was 15, and was working on her second album. She released a duet with 17-year-old singer Kourtney Heart, “My Boy,” earlier this year.

“R.I.P to my big sister Magnolia Shorty…this is a krazy world,” Lil Wayne tweeted late Monday after hearing the news.
