Notorious B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace, has reportedly displayed her displeasure in Lil Kim by forcing R&B singer Monica to remove the rapper from her “Anything (To Find You)” collaboration.
Monica tweeted the news of Ms. Wallace’s decision Thursday (July 14).
“I am just finding out what has happened to my single and myself & Missy are beyond hurt that @LilKim was removed. She’s our friend, a legend & @LilKim will get the respect she deserves at all cost. The clearance was revoked & I’m fighting to get it reinstated by the Biggie Estate,” she tweeted July 14th.
“We respect all parties involved & were gonna do WHATEVER to keep the song as is because @lilKim the bizness on the record…I am as thorough as they come and I LOVE @LilKim bottom line is Ms Wallace has the final say and she said No. If we put it out we get SUED” (Monica’s Twitter)
The track features a sample of B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya.”
Monica searches for true love on “Anything (To Find You),” the first single from her 7th studio album New Life, tentatively due October 4. The ’90s-inspired record, produced by Missy Elliott, samples the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya?” Monica takes listeners back to R&B’s glory days with her soulful voice, Rick Ross channels Biggie, and the Queen Bee delivers a short, yet stinging verse. Monica’s new record officially debuted on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week.
One week after hitting the ‘net, Monica’s first single, “Anything (To Find You),” featuring Rick Ross, debuts on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 71. The track from Monica’s upcoming seventh studio album, “New Life” (October 18), charts with Rick Ross as a guest feature, but doesn’t included verses from Lil Kim. (Billboard)
A few days ago, Kim acknowledged her verse was shortened to make room for other featured guests.
“In all actuality, I did a 16 in addition to the 8 bars that ya’ll all [heard],” Lil’ Kim explained. “Monica and her people decided to add Rick Ross on the track.” (The Lil Kim Fan Club Show)
