50 Cent Quickly Clears Up Label Issues
New York, NY – This past Thursday (June 16), the G-Unit General went on a vigilante warpath verbally blasting his label, Interscope, via twitter after not being able to come to an equal conclusion with his forthcoming album. Interestingly enough, 50 was not acting one emotion, he was acting on pure strategic planning on causing an implosion from within the label so they can snap back into reality and begin preparation of his upcoming album that has yet to be titled.
Black Magic was the supposed title for 50’s upcoming album, when it was announced in 2010, but that has since been dropped.
This was the post tweeted by the Queens emcee this past Thursday that ignited the spark:
“Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and shit, feels like there moving in slow motion.”
After his verbal barrage at Interscope on twitter, MTV News sought out to get the real answers from 50.
These were his comments:
“So I had the record I was ready to launch, and we sat down and everybody talked,” Fif told MTV News in an interview Friday (June 17). “What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it’s Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff.”
The actual ‘Twitter stuff’ that 50 was referring to had to do with when he charged on the social-networking site that Dre and Jimmy Iovine were “mad” because Fif announced that he was developing his own brand of high-end headphones to rival his CEO and mentor’s, Beats by Dre.
“We sat down, we cleared that up, me and Dre, and then we said, ‘Let’s just get back to the music and do what we do,’ “50 said before revealing his and Dre’s next move. “Immediately after, we wrote a song together called ‘The Psycho’; it’s Dre’s next single.”
It is understandable that 50 is quite upset with the way his album is handled, but he wants to be clear about where he places the blame:
“It’s not necessarily Dre or Jimmy; it’s more the guys that they pass the responsibilities onto. It takes longer for people, because they’ll be like, ‘OK, we’re gonna do this and we’re gonna do that,’ and the building will start having those conversations, but they’re not actually moving at that point.”
At press time, an album title nor a release date has yet to be secured by 50 or Interscope. This upcoming album is said to be his last off Interscope.

Leave it to 50 to eventually get his own way no matter what Interscope and Jimmy Iovine may say to him. I guess as a top-selling artist, you can complain once and get what you ask for. SO now, I guess the question is, is 50 Cent biting off more than he can crew?
Lil Kim Hinting a New Home with G-Unit
Atlanta, GA – Brooklyn’s own Queen B has been a free agent for quite time now and apparently has been trying to sign with certain labels for the elapsed time. This past weekend during Atlanta’s 16th Birthday Bash, Shawty Lo celebrated his newfound signing with G-Unit South, in the midst of it all, he brought out Lil Kim as a surprise guest.
During the show, Rap-Up.com caught these comments from the D4L rapper Shawty Lo and the Queen B herself:
Shawty Lo intros:
“I brought the queen, Lil’ Kim,” said Shawty Lo while introducing the notorious raptress as his surprise guest at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash 16 in Atlanta on Saturday (June 18). But the bigger surprise was what the Queen Bee said when she took the stage at Philips Arena after performing “It’s All About the Benjamins.”
While Lil Kim adds her 2 cents:
If ya’ll don’t know, this my boy right here. G-Unit South, that’s where it’s at,” proclaimed Kim, revealing that the “Dey Know” rapper is now part of the G-Unit roster and she may be following suit. “And I’m family too, down with the G-Unit camp. We got surprises for ya’ll.”
At one in time, it was reported that Kim was in talks to join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. Lately, she has apparently expressed interest and her fondness for 50 Cent and has been in the studio working on music with him in the past, one track being ‘Magic Stick.’
Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for more updated new on Lil Kim.
Is Kim really that much of a franchise player that every label wants to sign her? She’s not getting any younger, she needs to get signing while the offers are still available, veteran or not, people do get old.
