50 Cent Weighs In on ‘Deeper Than Rap’

New York, NY – The situation between Rick Ross and 50 Cent has already died down to an extent that Ross claims triumphant victory over him and has plans to take on Eminem. Now with Ross’ release of his third album, ‘Deeper Than Rap,’ 50 has a little more to talk about nowadays as everyone was curious to see what he had to say about the album that Ross claimed would sell more than ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin.’ Fans and online critics are even in their own debate on whether or not this was Ross’ best work.

You would think that 50 would have negative comments to say about the album and continue disparaging his nemesis’ workprint, apparently he kept his comments business oriented and strayed away from his personal attributes, but insisted that Def Jam somehow had some type of involvement with the Soundscan numbers. Interesting enough, he has stated that he didn’t get a chance to review the album as yet, but MTV News still didn’t hesitate to inquire on his views of the album sales and if he agreed with the fans’ opinion.

These were his comments:

“I didn’t get an opportunity to hear his record, but a lot of freak [SoundScan] numbers come out of the Def Jam system. I think it can be a disappointment to the system, based on how much of an effort and money they spent marketing, but you can’t call a #1 [album] a ‘flop’ under any circumstances. It’s still #1.”

According to the Soundscan results for the first week, ‘Deeper Than Rap’ ranked in at number one on the charts and still gathered in numbers similar to that of his first two LPs, both of which peaked in at number 1 as well. Last year’s ‘Trilla’ sold 198,000 copies in its first week, while his 2006 debut, Port of Miami, sold 187,000.

Hot 97 radio personality Miss Info even added her own professional opinion about the album and its continued debate between the Ross fanatics and the naysayers:

“It’s interesting, because it’s so many different factors working against the music industry right now. You look at digital downloading and compound it with the state of the economy. You just feel like a lot of times the creative products are the first to be put on the back burner. In a lot of ways, I think record-label people are looking at gold as the new platinum. Literally. Someone told me they are making gold plaques again. At this point in time, you could have a lot of build-up on an artist and they’re hitting 50,000 first week.

At press time, Ross or Def Jam has yet to comment on the Soundscan numbers that were collected for the first week for ‘Deeper Than Rap.’

I must admit, I would have thought 50 would have been the first to pick up the album and trash it as he normally does for everyone. I guess 50 is losing his touch in murdering artists’ careers, as he claims, cause Ross came out the victor in this feud. The only difference between Cam, Joey Crack, and Ja is that Ross has lyricism far beyond what 50 could handle, now with Eminem, that’s a whole different story.

Will.I.Am Graces ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Film & Video Game

New York, NY – Black Eyes Peas member Will.I.Am has been quite busy these few years as a producer and an artist, however, believe or not, recently acting has been on his hectic schedule. The mega-producer scored his big hit by landing a role on the latest X-Men franchise film that just hit the theatres this past Friday (May 1).

Will just so happens to play a mutant with teleportation powers like that of Nightcrawler named John Wraith. He plays alongside the man that made his own version of the Marvel character Wolverine famous, Hugh Jackman. As John Wraith, he also got the chance to land a spot on the video game based solely on the film. He recently spoke with MTV News concerning his role in the video game explaining the work he put into the character he portrays by providing his voice, while the digital version of Wraith would be his look in the film.

These were his comments:

“I was in Australia, and they told me they had to take a 3-D scan [for the video game]. Forget the voice, that’s a 3-D scan of me up there, that’s me!”

Will even described John Wraith’s characteristics when inquired by MTV. He expresses his likeness of the character:

“What makes John Wraith cool is, he’s a smartass, but he’s a good guy. I like that type of superhero.

‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ was released to theatres nationwide on Friday May 1 and it has already become a box office smash. The film is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, and Will.I.Am. Patrick Stewart surprisingly makes a cameo at the end of the film as a young Professor X.

On the real, Will.I.Am is a mediocre actor, I would say, his producing skills are a lot better. Either way, his character dies half way through the movie, not to spoiler the surprise, but he does. And on another note, Will’s counterpart Taboo was horrible as Vega in the Street Fighter film.

Cover for Pleasure P debut ‘The Introduction to Marcus Cooper’ Revealed

Miami, FL. – In what has been a long awaited moment for the once talented vocalist of Pretty Ricky, Pleasure P will now embark upon the release of his most anticipated debut. It has been a minute since the R&B vocalist took his music career solo sometime in 2007, and since then the fans have patiently waiting for his first debut LP to grace the world.

That in fact might happen soon enough, Pleasure P’s debut album is officially entitled ‘The Introduction to Marcus Cooper.’ With his manager, co-songwriter, and producer, Rex Zamor, by his side, there is no stopping the reign of Pleasure P. He explained the meaning behind the title of his album during an interview, these were his comments:

“The reason I named it that is because Pretty Ricky introduced you all to Pleasure P, but now Pleasure P is going to introduce you to Marcus Cooper, which is my government name. This time, I’m in my own lane musically — I’m grown up now. I’m talking about things that average R&B guys don’t talk about but that average people can relate to. Pretty Ricky was overly raunchy, young and with no direction. Now, my music is classier and I’ll tell you exactly how it is.”

With two singles already on the charts and one hit with Flo Rida, Pleasure has an illustrious and promising career ahead of him. According to Atlantic Records, ‘The Introduction to Marcus Cooper’ has officially been set to be released on June 9, 2009.

Here is the official front cover of ‘The Introduction to Marcus Cooper:’
On the real, I must admit that P was the main reason behind Pretty Ricky’s success, you can tell by the sales of their recent album release, ‘Eighties Baby’ compared to that of ‘Bluestars.’ Now with the release of his debut, it is definite that he will go far.
