Clipse Discuss the Leak of New Record
Miami, FL. – The two infamous Hip-Hop brothers are back in the limelight again after a short hiatus from the game. It has been a minute since we heard anything from Pusha T and Malice, whether it be new material or any media coverage sincetheir release of ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ 3 years ago until now. Recently, their first single off of their third studio album was leaked to the net and apparently the reviews for the new track have been quite positive. The single is entitled ‘Kinda Like a Big Deal’ features the talents of Chi-Town native Kanye West as a guest feature not on production, the beat was produced by DJ Khalil. While down in Miami recording the their new album set to be released sometime in the late summer, MTV News caught up with him and had a chance to discuss the leak of the new single and what they plan to put in that upcoming album entitled ‘Till the Casket Drops.’
Younger brother, Pusha T, spoke on the leak of the single and explained the response they received from the fans:
“We heard it leaked, God! Just when we had everything in order, it just happens. We’re happy Kanye got on the record. The response has been crazy. Rave reviews about it. Thanks for everybody lending an ear.”
He continued adding how Kanye got involved in the project:
Kanye was in Japan somewhere [when he laid his verse]. He called and was like, ‘I’ll have your verse done in two hours.’ Two or three hours, it was done. It was just how we was feeling at the time, as far as the Clipse and a Kanye collaboration with the artwork, Kaws. The name of the song is ‘Kinda Like a Big Deal’ — everything around that had to be big. It’s just how we was feeling. This third album is kinda like a big deal, the collaboration, all of that, is like a big deal.”
With additional production on the track, sources say that they are working with Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Rick Rubin, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and of course, the Neptunes, what would a Clipse album be without Pharrell and Chad. Their third album, ‘Till the Casket Drops,’ is slated for a late summer release.
It has been a serious minute since I heard anything from these boys, last I thought they either dismantled or had some major problems with their labels. Either way, their lyrical skills have always been on point, so any new material from them is a good thing, looking forward to the release of their new album. Check out their latest single ‘Kinda Like a Big Deal,’ it’s a banger.
Dawn Richard Discusses ‘Making the Band 4’ Finale
New York, NY – Danity Kane has since been dismantled and the only member left might as well be considered Bad Boy’s other solo act, Dawn Richard. After firing Aundrea Fimbres from her Bad Boy contract last week, it seems as though Diddy has plans for Richard as his only lasting female artist from the ‘MTB 4’ series.
As the ‘MTB 4’ recent season aired their finale this past Thursday, Diddy invited all the girls back for a short reunion to end the season with a bang. On Friday morning, hours after the airing of the show, MTV News caught up with Dawn Richard and discussed her reaction of being the last woman standing, however, still clueless on her next venture with Bad Boy mogul, Diddy.
These were her comments:
“I sucked the juice out of it. I hung in there as long as I could. I’m happy with the positivity at the finale. I don’t know those answers about why he chose me. I’m happy that he wanted to move forward with me.”
She was even quite enthused and ecstatic about being around her former band mates all with the exception of Fimbres as she didn’t show up for the reunion after being fired on the last episode. She included her reaction before hitting the stage:
“Everybody looked beautiful, I was happy everyone moved forward. It was great. I wasn’t nervous. I’ve had some great shows and moments. It was great energy. I didn’t know (about Fimbres no-show), but I hope she’s doing well. I pray for the best on the other girls as well.”
At press time, Diddy already has Richard working on new music including his upcoming ‘Last Train to Paris’ set to be released on September 22, 2009. The album is slated to be a CD/DVD Box Set with the CD tracks to follow the Mini-Movie he has included with the DVD.
I knew she had to suck on something, but I’m just saying. What other reason would Diddy keep her and not Fimbres? I know, cause she didn’t put out when the time came for her to do so. Either way, I’m glad she made the cut for the ‘Last Train to Paris,’ it goes to show that she has more talent than that. And am I anticipating this new Diddy album? Not really, while everyone is going nuts trying to make the cut on the album, I really don’t care.
Kanye West Co-Signs ‘Deeper Than Rap’
The release of Ross’ new album ‘Deeper than Rap’ has been met with mixed reviews from fans all across the nation. At one point in time the Boss once stated that his next LP will outsell that of 50’s debut ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin,’ we have yet to see the results from that. On another note, it seems as though Ross is claiming that he has defeated 50 in their lyrical war that has been going back and forth since beginning of the year. Since that is over and done with, Ross is focusing on his album sales results that should be released in the next couple of days.
Recently, one heavyweight Hip-Hop artist and producer co-signed the Boss’ new studio album in front of a crowd of Ross fans. Kanye West spoke on Ross and his new material stating that the album is the ‘shit.’
These were Ye’s actual comments about ‘Deeper than Rap:’
“Fuck what 50 is going through; Rick Ross album is the shit!!! He made an album I can play in my apartment, which is the highest honor I can give any piece of music. Feist, Pink Floyd and the new Rick Ross album!”
With that being said, the album itself is above normally what Ross is known for. The lyricism is beyond average and the beats are on the mature side. And even if this feud between Ross and 50 coming to close, apparently Ross is now aiming to take on another Aftermath artist, Eminem. Ross stated that he is a fan first and foremost, but he wouldn’t mind trading lyrical blows with the Shady one himself. Em or any of representatives have yet to comment on Ross’ supposed challenge.
Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on the Ross and Eminem situation.
It’s understandable that Ye would co-sign Ross, besides the fact that they are Def Jam label mates and have a recorded track together on ‘Deeper than Rap,’ we seem to forget that he isn’t too partial with 50 anyway. They once went one on one in a Soundscan battle where Ye came out the victor.
